Peradeniya Alumni Scholarship Scheme

Thank you for your interest in the Peradeniya Alumni Scholarships Scheme for the benefit of the current students at Peradeniya University. If you had been a student there in the past, you will take great joy in giving back something in return for what you received. If you had not benefited from it, your generosity will be even more commendable.

Annual cycle of the Scholarships Process

Donations are collected throughout the year.
Additionally PUUAViC allocates annually some of its surplus to provide scholarships.
AAUP, the parent alumni association is informed of the number of scholarships by the end of the year.
In consultation with the faculty deans, the AAUP selects suitable candidates which fit any criteria specified.
The funds are transferred to AAUP and the scholarships are granted at a ceremony.
Where possible students are matched to donors so that they could begin a dialog with each other.

Donations

There are four ways to direct your donations, scholarships based purely on need $110, scholarships for students with special needs $220, scholarships based on performance $220, all these amounts per student per year and lastly a donation to the capital fund of any amount. Once you decide on the number of scholarships and the amount, transfer the funds to PUAAViC bank account.

Integrity of the Scheme

Your donation of $110 or $220 ensures that a student receives a minimum of Rs. 12000 or 24000 for the year. At the time of remittance we absorb adverse exchange rates and reinvest the favourable. The funds in the capital account are periodically utilised to provide more scholarships to needy students. Not a single cent of funds donated for scholarships or capital fund are used to meet any other expense. No charity can make our claim that we direct 100% of the funds towards our advertised cause. This is possible because all expenses are borne by PUAAViC or personally by the volunteers.
